RETROSolar im Dialog mit der Zukunft
Our Objective
We set ourselves the task of developing conventional sun protection blinds into high-performance coverings using optical mirror louvers. Today, thanks to the intelligence of our special optics, we achieve previously unknown, highly distinctive efficiencies:
- Significantly better g-values through RETRO-reflection of excess solar energy.
- Reduction of solar energy input by up to 80%.
- Simultaneous improvement of diffuse light input to ensure glare-free room illumination with natural daylight spectra.
- Daylight-autonomous offices.
Paradigm Shift
By means of special mirror optics, the above functions and efficiencies are achieved with horizontal louver positioning. This results in excellent simultaneous transparency of up to 85% of the blinds between the louvers, even with active sun protection. The patented mirror optics from our licensor, Dr.-Ing. Helmut Köster, also open up perspectives for facade construction, for single or double-skin facades, for integrated insulating glass solutions, or even glass roof constructions.
Scientific Basis
The optics are calculated using a special ray-tracing software from the licensor, which allows for precise determination of the total energy transmission depending on the solar incidence angle. This enables savings in the total energy consumption of administrative buildings due to electricity and cooling loads of up to 30%. In cooperation with facade construction companies, we support the development of facade concepts by determining the building physics parameters in the combination of light redirection with functional glazing. We possess the exact light distribution functions of our optics, which are used to determine interior illumination.
Societal Contribution
Our contribution is to enable significant energy savings while simultaneously improving well-being in the workplace by utilizing natural, healthy light spectra. In collaboration with architects, we bring buildings into a dialogue with the sun and the seasons through openness, transparency, and intelligent protection against overheating. We protect the microclimate of our cities by RETRO-reflecting the overheating sun back into the sky.
Globally Active
Our products are already in use worldwide, from Europe to China, South Korea, and even Brazil. Through these international projects, we've learned to deal with different cultures, including construction methods, craft traditions, and forms of communication.
A Look into the Future: Digitalization, Automation, Climate Protection
For the coming years, we face challenges in digitalization, automation, and climate protection. We plan to gain licensees worldwide and develop further daylight technology-based products that increasingly meet the requirements for energy-efficient construction.
RETROSolar will continue to establish itself as a synonym for forward-looking daylight redirection systems and make the necessary contribution to climate protection.
